The Marriage Course

or The Pre-Marriage Course

Navigating life together

married couple

What is the format?

You’ll be matched with a support couple, with whom you will meet to start the course. This vetted and trained couple will encourage and serve as a point of contact throughout the course. Following your initial meeting, the course content is delivered through 7 video sessions which you complete in your own private setting, on your own schedule. The course concludes with a final dinner with your support couple who will help you reflect and plan forward.

How is The Pre-Marriage Course different?

Videos for The Pre-Marriage Course are specific to your unique setting as a couple exploring or (possibly) planning for marriage. There is a couple survey which you and your partner will take at the start of the course. There are only 5 video sessions in The Pre-Marriage Course. As in The Marriage Course, this course also begins and ends with a support couple conversation.

How do we get started?

Use the registration form linked here to indicate your interest. Our course coordinator will respond and help line up a support couple. Your support couple will reach out and you’ll be ready to set up your first conversation.

What can we expect in the video sessions?

1. Time to Connect

We suggest setting a romantic date night atmosphere. Light a candle in the room where you are meeting. Gather a few special drinks or snacks to share together.

2. Watch Episode

The entire night is around 1 hour and 55 minutes with around 45 minutes for the talks and breaks for conversations. Each episode explores a different topic through real experiences, expert insights, and relevant teaching.

3. Talk Privately

Providing space for couples to have private, intimate conversations is a must for every course. It helps enable couples to engage openly and honestly throughout the session.

About the Courses

Both The Marriage Course and The Pre-Marriage Course combine personal support with expertly developed content. Participant couples are matched with a support couple who will provide encouragement, and answer questions along-the-way. The core content is delivered through a series of video sessions, designed to help couples invest in their relationship and build a strong relationship. These videos are accessed online, allowing participant couples to watch privately as their schedule allows.

Each at-home session lasts for 1 hour 55 minutes, half of which will be for your conversations. We encourage you to complete each session in one sitting, and to set a regular time aside each week to complete a session. The course finishes with a celebration dinner hosted by your support couple.

Courses are scheduled as requested. Use the online form to indicate your interest!

How does it work?

1. Register.

Complete the registration form. Be sure to include all of your partner’s information. After you register you will receive an email confirmation.

2. Meet your support couple.

You’ll be introduced to your support couple by phone and/or email. You can expect them to offer an invitation to meet in person. This may take place at their home, a coffee shop, or other informal setting. This initial meeting is an opportunity to get to know one another, confirm expectations for the course, get questions answered, and be encouraged.

3. Pick a weekly day and time with your partner.

Once you’ve met with your support couple, you will have access to the course videos. Find a time for you and your partner to watch the videos together. Make a date of it! Don’t forget the candles, snacks, and drinks. If you’re parenting, you might put the older kids in another room, and the younger ones in bed. Try to make it feel as special as possible.

4. Stick with it!

Plan to watch one video per week. Start with session one and work through the sessions in order. We encourage you to get started as soon as you can!

5. Celebrate!

Your support couple will host a celebration dinner once you’ve completed the course videos. It’s a chance to honor the time and energy you’ve put into your relationship, and encourage you to keep going strong.
